Bo Peep's Sheep-Billy, Goat, & Gruff
Happy Labor Day, Friends!
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,

Bo Peep's Sheep-Billy, Goat, & Gruff
I know we haven't even had time to discuss Bo Peep yet in this devotional series, but I did want to focus on her sheep today.
Why? Because it's a national holiday: it's Labor Day! A day to celebrate hard work, by allowing those hard working employees, hard working laborers, some much deserved rest and relaxation.
This is absolutely Biblical, you know?! God established rhythms of work and rest in the very beginning of Genesis. He worked 6 days and then He rested.
Biblical rest isn’t laziness or simply doing nothing. It is accepting that we are the sheep—not the Shepherd. I think Bo Peep's sheep get that point. (Did you know their names are Billy, Goat, & Gruff? What a fun fact!) Ultimately, it appears that Billy, Goat & Gruff knew Bo Peep was going to be there for them, and take care of them. The sheep can lie down because the Shepherd stays awake. They completely trusted their Shepherd.
Are you trusting your Shepherd?
We don’t have to know the entire path or course for our life.
We don't have to control every outcome.
Luckily, we don't have to keep everything running ourselves.
Our God, the Creator of the Universe, is in control.
And luckily he doesn't say our value comes from our productivity.
We see this played out in multiple verses I would encourage to look up and highlight:
Matthew 11:28–30: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened…”
Mark 6:31: “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
Psalm 127:2: God grants sleep to those He loves.
Hebrews 4:9–11: A Sabbath-rest remains for God’s people.
Exodus 20:8–10: God commands a rhythm of Sabbath rest.
Today-I hope you take some time to rest, friend.
Because rest is a true act of trust: the world will continue to turn without us.
