Slinky Dog
Who doesn’t love Slinky Dog?! I mean, he is the personification of LOYALTY. If you find someone who doesn’t like Slink...I tell you this nicely: RUN AWAY FROM THEM NOW, FRIEND.
Slinky Dog is loyal almost to a fault. Time and time again in the first Toy Story, you see Slinky Dog supporting Sheriff Woody. He trusts Woody. He tells the group that there must be an explanation for all the crazy things Woody was doing to Buzz Lightyear—like pushing him out the window. He is just as loyal as—if not more loyal than—the sheriff himself. That’s a beautiful thing to behold!
But Slinky’s loyalty is not exclusive. He casts a wide net of friends; he leaves no one out. He eventually shows friendship to Buzz, which seems to irk Woody enough to push him off the bed. (I’m seeing a theme here with Woody: He likes pushing people off beds and out of windows...) Yet even after being pushed off the bed, Slinky is still the first to come to Woody’s defense. What a friend!
One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 18:24
A loyal friend remains beside you—even when everyone else doubts you. Slinky is the one who risks everything to jump out of a moving truck and try to save Woody—and Buzz. He gives it everything he’s got, even when he is literally stretched thin. Isn’t that the type of friend you want in your life? I know I want friends like that.
So, where does that type of loyalty come from? I’d say genuine and real love. Slinky’s heart appears to be bigger than he is. He may have the biggest heart in the entire Toy Story universe. (Bold statement: Challenge me in the comments!)

Jesus makes it clear: People will know that we are His followers by our love! So, my hope—and my challenge—for you today is this: Show genuine love to those in your orbit.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13:6–7
